Mountains of the Sun
“Have you ever looked into the vastest of nights
and from the corner of your eye
seen 7 mountains appear
quivering with the essence of all things”
Guide you to a place of unspeakable beauty”
Mountains of the Sun, presents a story and cosmology of abundance, offering a symbol of peace and healing to the current time.
Around a roaming and unfolding altar a community land blessing ceremony takes place. A place where objects are assembled and reassembled, as a way of entering the imaginal realm to dream together.
The ceremony is a way of giving thanks to the land within the city. A way of bringing people together to dream and be joyful together in times of separation.
The piece was collectively formed by an intergenerational and interfaith community in East London, meeting together over 10 months through a series of visioning journeys, and blessings. Each part of the symbolism became a series of costumes and props made together through community making days.
