Building with the elemental

In April 2025 we began building a special space on the land, this will be a roofed building with open walls. A space to make, a space to sit and eat together, a space to process the fruits from the land, a space to contemplate the nature around, a multifunctional space. The structure is made from a mix of French Oak, Douglas Fir and Oak from the land. We wanted to make an elemental building that was considered, crafted, a building that was robust for its many uses through future generations.

We hosted a timber frame residency on the land, welcoming makers to support the process. We used old European joinery techniques, collected stone from around the land for the foundations and stone from the heart of the mountain to place at the top of the building.

Evenings were spent in candle light and conversation, around nourishing meals
